In 2010 PADI revised their Instructor Development Course (IDC) giving the newest PADI Instructors more learning options and enhanced Instructional tools.

The IDC and its components have been streamlined and modernized, covering everything a new Instructor needs to know with a variety of interactive curriculum components.

Several presentations that lend themselves well to independent study are now even available on line, meaning Divemasters can begin their IDC at anytime. As with all PADI e-Learning options, a Divemaster e-learner affiliates with a dive school (Scubafish), when registering for this option.

Therefore the required materials for the PADI IDC were also updated. Instructor candidates MUST have, in their possession, a personal set of materials (as defined in the list of required materials for the course), for study and use during the course and for reference afterward (unless the materials are not available in a language understood by the candidate.) Instructor candidates MUST have a current edition of the materials.

Below we list what is included in the NEW PADI IDC crew pack as well as a full listing of required IDC materials, some of which you may already own from you diving career up to this point, or can purchased from Scubafish at a discounted rate.

You also need to bring these for your IDC:

• Pocket Mask
• Timing device
• Compass
• Knife/diver’s tool
• Two surface signaling devices – one audible and one visible
• Medical Examination Form signed by a physician (max. 12 months old)
• Verification of CPR and first aid training (max. 24 months old)
• Certification proof for OW, AOW, Rescue, EFR, DM or equivalent
• Diving logbook with minimum 100 dives signed off
• 2 passport size photographs
