The PADI Divemaster Course is the first professional level PADI certification and is the minimum rating required for employment within the scuba diving industry. By becoming a professional member of PADI, the world’s biggest dive educator, you’ll be able to work in the dive industry in PADI dive centres and resorts, and be qualified to guide certified divers, conduct PADI Scuba Reviews and assist PADI Instructors in some of their tasks. By accepting a candidate into the Divemaster Trainee Programme we are recognizing your potential to succeed as a professional Divemaster and are committed to guiding you to that success. Working closely with a PADI Instructor as your mentor, the course is a comprehensive training programme designed to expand your dive knowledge, shape and develop your attitude and hone your skills to the professional level. Divemaster training is designed to develop your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.
What will I Learn during the PADI Divemaster Course?
During the PADI Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skill through both classroom and independent study.
You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action through an internship or series of practical training exercises.
The goal of the PADI Divemaster Course is to improve your level of diving so you feel confident and knowledgeable in both the theory and practical elements of recreational scuba diving. You’ll assist instructors teaching real courses and get hands on experience supervising and leading dives. You’ll learn mapping techniques and map an actual dive site, guide certified divers, test and hone your rescue skills, learn how to handle stressful situations underwater and learn how to teach some PADI programs.

Each Divemaster course we offer is tailor-made to suit your level of experience and we work with you to ensure that by the end of the dive course, you have a solid grounding in all the areas of knowledge development as well as some real work/practical experience that you can add to your CV when applying for future jobs within the dive industry.

What equipment do I need for the PADI Divemaster Course?
To start a PADI Divemaster course, you don’t need any equipment. However, by the time you complete your Divemaster training, you should have a full set. In order to work as a Divemaster, most dive centres would expect you to have your own equipment. We offer advice and great deals on scuba diving gear- please contact us for further information.
Who can apply for the PADI Divemaster Course?
If you’re aged 18+ and have a 20+ logged dives, have already completed the PADI Open Water Course, PADI Advanced Course and PADI Rescue Diver Course (or equivalent), are in general good health and fitness, you should be eligible to become a fully certified Divemaster.
You must also have completed the Emergency First Responder Course or have been certified in First/Aid CPR within the last 2 years (you must provide current certification).

When can I start a PADI Divemaster Course?
We are open all year so it is possible to start a PADI Divemaster course at any time. However, the best time of year to start a Divemaster Course with us is from October to February as this is our high season. This will give you plenty of time to complete both the practical and theoretical sections of the course.

How much does the PADI Divemaster Course cost?
The PADI Divemaster Course costs 45,000 THB. The course materials are 7,500 THB. The Divemaster application fee is not included in the price of this course as it must be paid direct to PADI on completion of your Divemaster Training.
We offer a limited number of Divemaster Internships each season. We provide all your training, manuals and up to 40 dives for free. In return, you must agree to work for us until you clear your course fees, after your certification as a PADI Divemaster is complete. You will gain invaluable work experience during this time, which will help you find your next job. We currently accept 2 people per season onto the Divemaster Internship programme. If you are not accepted onto the Internship programme, you may still pay to do your Divemaster course with us.
What is the cost of living in Ko Lanta?
You can expect to pay around 4-8,000 THB per month for a simple bungalow and 2,800 – 3,000 baht per month to rent a motorbike (if you live in the Kantiang Bay area you may not need a bike).
Meals will cost between 40-180 baht per meal & beers are 25-70 baht depending where you buy them (eg 7/11 or a bar). We provide you with breakfast & lunch when you are out diving on the boat.
You have access to free tea, coffee, water & fruit when you are in the dive centre and there is a small fridge where you can keep a few essentials.
How many people are in each group?
We keep group sizes small to ensure you receive maximum benefit from your tuition (maximum 4 students per Instructor). This also minimises negative impact on the reefs. Our emphasis is on safety, fun and personal service within a relaxed and stress-free environment.
