Specialty Instructor Courses
PADI Specialty Instructors are PADI Instructors who have met the requirements to offer courses in various special types of diving activities.
PADI Instructors qualify as Specialty Instructors either by applying directly to PADI or or by attending a Specialty Instructor training course conducted by a PADI Course Director
Earning PADI Specialty Instructor ratings allow you to teach a wide array of exciting courses in special interest areas. Besides giving you the chance to do your favorite type of diving, specialty diver courses allows you to share your interests and expertise with others.

Enriched Air Instructor – 1 day / 2 dives
This is PADI’s most popular specialty course. You’ll be able to teach divers to plan and make no decompression dives using enriched air nitrox blends containing 22-40 percent oxygen.
Digital Underwater Photography Instructor – 1 day / 2 dives
Digital has taken the underwater photography world by storm. Get in on the action with the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Instructor course. You can show to your students how quickly and easy it is to capture the underwater world with their camera and on their computer.
Deep Instructor 1 day / 2 dives
You’ll be able to teach divers to plan and make no decompression dives up to a maximum depth of 40 metres.
Prerequisites
To enroll in most Specialty Instructor training, an individual must be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Instructor or have completed an IDC or Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program within the past 12 months.
To attend a PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training Course the participant must either:
- Be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver or hold another qualifying certification (this means trained in the procedures and use of enriched air “nitrox” for no-decompression diving with blends of up to 40 percent oxygen).
- Complete the PADI Enriched Air Diver course in conjunction with the PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training Course.
OR
To attend a PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Instructor Training Course the participant must be certified as a PADI Divemaster, PADI Assistant Instructor or PADI Instructor.
